The pumphouse

As requested.
here's a pix of a test build on the HO pumphouse thanks to John K.
I love the proportion. It looks great with our other kits.

Hers another pix from John that shows his construction notes. We took all of his suggestions. One interesting thing is the concrete stair on the right.(a suggestion from my brother) In the production kit we raised the front door to accomidate it.

Sliced bread and high tech composits
Wednesday, May 23, 2007, 03:49 AM
It amaizes me that there are people out there who don't appreciate the wonder that is paper. The Chinese, Egyptions and Gutenberg are pretty heavyweight thinkers to me. We get letters of thanks from respected pro modelbuilders who gush about our cool products but still there is a prejudise against paper. As we develope more detailed and involved kits. It is going to effect the price so why will some one not flinch at spending $200 for a wood kit but get nervious about spending more then $50 on a paper model.
Paper is wood in its high tech composit form. thats right its a composit. The coolest thing since sliced bread and just about as indispensible.
PAPER is SUPERIOR to wood. Thats final. Deal with it. We have a lot of plans for this super composit material called paper. I wonder if we will have to start putting "Composit card models" on the package.

Tough decision, need your comments
Monday, May 21, 2007, 12:07 AM
Hi Readers, I have a tough decision to make and I'd like your input.

We will soon be ready to release the John Allan Engine house. Kind of.
Because of the extensive laser cutting we need to contract out we will only be able to release one scale at a time. So, what scale gets firsties. O scale has been suportave since the first days. HO is a bigger market but we are not as well known. Thats changing quickly though. Rest assured The kit will be available in ALL scales but one will have to pave the way for the others.
Also, This limited edition kit will only be available from us and perhaps one or two shops we already agreed to sell to. Why?
As we said earlier. This is a big (read expensive) kit. When we sell to a distributoror or store, it raises the wholsale cost because they need to make a profit. Thats only fair. They help us by making our product more visible. they help you by having the kit there for you to enjoy. Yes, we have to make a profit as well. Our restricting this kit to direct sales (with a very few exceptions) will let us cut the overall cost by 40%. Thats a savings we can pass on to you. We are trying to keep this kit under $100.
$100 for a card kit seems like a lot but then we will be delivering a lot in return. We always do.

Project X laser update
Thursday, May 3, 2007, 01:24 PM
Well I guess I should just call it the G&D enginhouse now but it's been project X for a long time, Old habbits don't ya know.
Still waiting for a couple of bids to come in but it looks like we have found a source to laser the engin house kit. We wount be cutting the whole kit of course but there are so many windows and skylights, those will be pre cut for sure. Shingles too. If the budget allows I may have the interior joists cut as well. It looks like we will be able to just barely keep the O scale model under $100 bucks.
Pre orders have been going well so I'd seriously advise letting us know if you want one and what scale. Test parts will be going to the laser in about two weeks. I'm hoping to ship by mid July.
everytime I start to think about what could be done with a laser I start getting crazy ideas. If this kit sells as well as I think it will, You'll see a lot more pre cut parts coming from us.
We also have an informal friendly agreement with St Charles model works to supply castings for future kits. More on that later.
